Raised in downtown Toronto by Chilean parents, Ximena learned French, spoke Spanish at home and English with her classmates. She has lived in Argentina, studied in Cuba and worked in Bolivia. After graduating in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Toronto, Ximena has worked for the province of Ontario for more then a decade in various departments including the Office of International Relations and Protocol, the Education Quality and Accountability Office and recently in the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration where she managed training programs designed to integrate individuals new to the Ontario job market. She was also a spokesperson for the federal elections campaign of 2004, where she worked to increase the young voters.

Ximena has always been passionate about sports and the Caribbean and Latin American culture, which is very useful in her actual role as manager of Organizing committee of the Pan-American and Parapanamerican games 2015. In this role she works hand in hand with 41 Pan-American consulates as well as international dignitaries of the Latin community.
